Brit Morin Engages $1.25M From Marissa Mayer, Founders Fund And More To Launch Her First App, Weduary
Brit Morin, the Martha Stewart of tech, is today announcing a $1.25 million seed round for her technology and content company Brit. The list of investors is actually pretty sympatico with "the next generation of lifestyle" branding of Brit & Co, with fashion-heavy Index Ventures, tech fashionista Marissa Mayer, KCPB's Aileen Lee, Tina Sharkey and Seth Goldstein, Kevin Colleran, Annabel Teal, General Catalyst Partners, Founders Fund Angel and DMGT all going in. In addition to the funding the company is also launching its first app, Weduary, which lets tech-savvy couples build their own attractive and dynamic wedding websites. The Facebook app, which users can try for free, lets prospective brides and grooms build a custom wedding website in four steps, leveraging the Facebook social graph to make it easy to import photos from Facebook, invite guests, coordinate registry details and other event RSVPs.

Sony's Alpha A37 and NEX-F3 pose for the camera, reveal more angles, details
Well, well, talk about déjà vu! It was just yesterday that a corner of Sony's 16.1 megapixel NEX-F3 leaked onto the interwebs and now more photos have surfaced, along with a previously unannounced shooter, the Alpha A37 SLT. The pictures come courtesy of Yang Canggih, which says it had a chance to demo the two devices yesterday at Sony's Partner's Conference in Jakarta (curiously, the NEX-F3 post isn't live as of this writing, but Sony Alpha Rumors has the images up). Starting with the F3, the mirrorless camera has lost a smidgen of the curves found on its older sibling, the C3, adopting a slight bit of the angular edges that once made the NEX-7 the badass standout in the lineup. You'll notice that the shutter button and grip have an uncanny resemblance to the 7's, not to mention that it's clearly gained a pop-up flash -- a first for the lower-end NEXs. Past that, the rumored -- and self-portrait friendly -- 180 degree tilt-screen is also present, which'll likely give the C3 an edge over its siblings when it comes to composing shots. Also worth note, some of the buttons on back have been slightly repositioned.
Moving along, those hoping for a successor to the A35 will apparently have their wish granted with the 16.1 megapixel A37. According to Yang Canggih, it features the articulating display from last generation of NEX cams, Auto Portrait Framing (first introduced with the A57), four more effect modes than the a35 (up from 11) and an ergonomic grip in the vein of the A77. Sadly, that's about all that's currently known, so hopefully we'll get an official introduction to the cameras soon. E Ink Holdings made a loss of over $25 million last quarter, despite supplying its backlight-free panels to popular e-readers like the Kindle and the Nook. Why the poor showing after ten quarters of solid money-making? The company's accountants blame "off-season effects" and "inventory adjustments" by customers, which may simply be corporatese for "the screens aren't selling so well." Overall revenue tumbled 63 percent compared to the same period in 2011 and the outlook remains "conservative" -- although it's hard to believe that everyone suddenly wants to stay indoors and stare at pixels.

Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga to Portray Aliens in Men in Black III
Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga might soon get killed by Will Smith. Wait... what?!?
Men in Black III director Barry Sonnenfeld confirmed in an interview with Collider this week that the music superstars will actually cameo in his upcoming blockbuster, though you're unlikely to be aware of it as you watch Agents J and K in action.
"In this [installment] there are a few people that you'll see up on the surveillance board, including Lady Gaga, Tim Burton, who probably knows more about aliens than I do, and let's see who else... Justin Bieber," Sonnenfeld told the website. "The challenge is getting celebrities that are famous, will give you permission and won't be like 'Who's that guy?' in 10 years."
In the 2002 sequel to this franchise, Michael Jackson actually played the role of an alien for a brief scene.
The film comes out on May 25 and you can watch the Men in Black III trailer now. Can you spot Bieber and/or Gaga in it?!?

Tom Cruise Will Likely Film 'Top Gun 2' Before 'Mission: Impossible 5'
Paramount president confirms that 'all parties are moving ahead' to create a 'Top Gun' sequel.

Good news "Top Gun" fans, Tom Cruise is about to sign a deal to star in the film's sequel.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount president Adam Goodman said, "We'll likely make a 'Top Gun' sequel with Tom Cruise [before the next "Mission: Impossible"]. Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct. All parties are moving ahead. We've hired Peter Craig to write the script."
When MTV News' Josh Horowitz sat down with Cruise during his press tour for "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and asked him about "Top Gun 2," Cruise said, "We're working on it."
Christopher McQuarrie was originally hired to pen the sequel's script, but Cruise informed us that the writer was no longer attached to the project. That left Bruckheimer and Scott as the ones working with Cruise to get a sequel under way. "I said to Tony I want to make another movie with him. He and I haven't made a film since 'Days of Thunder,' " Cruise said. "Tony and I and Jerry, we never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas of where it is now. I thought, 'Wow that would be ... what we could do now.'
"If we can find a story that we all want to do, we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot 'Top Gun.' "
With confirmation from Goodman, it seems they found the right story line, but does it include Maverick's rival Lt. Tom "Iceman" Kazanski? The actor behind Ice, Val Kilmer, said he'd be on board for "Top Gun 2."
"Sure, it would be fun," he told MTV News. "I'd have to get a haircut, but anything for the role."
A big reason behind his enthusiasm for the project has to do with Bruckheimer. "It's not like Jerry Bruckheimer isn't the most successful producer on Earth," he said with a laugh. "I was going around bragging. I did a little part just to hang out with [director Tony Scott] and Denzel Washington, on this movie 'Deja Vu.' I'm going around saying, 'Jerry's probably made $5 billion,' I was guessing. And one interviewer said, 'You haven't read the [press notes]?' He just turned the page and there's Jerry's bio: $50 billion, he's grossed. As soon as I read that, wow. He's got thirty or forty or fifty awesome secrets about how to make a big blockbuster."

Almost a year after it was first announced 3M's Cloud Library e-book lending service is getting a proper rollout. Introduced today at a beta site in St. Paul, the system is now ready for its kiosks, e-readers and apps to hit the hands and eyes of library patrons. The touch-based Discovery Terminals allow catalog browsing for visitors and selections can be checked out -- along with 3M's eReaders -- like other library materials. Already have a mobile device? E-books will play nicely with your iPad, Nook or Android device via the Cloud Library app. If you find yourself needing to read a bit on your computer, checked out items are compatible with both PCs and Macs as well. "With this technology, we are able to offer cutting-edge technology to all our patrons, whether they own their own e-reader or not," said Kit Hadley, director of the Saint Paul Public Library. President Obama test drives a Sphero on Boulder visit
President Obama was in the Centennial State last night, hyping up an enthusiastic crowd at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Coors Events Center. Of course, he couldn't help but take some time to check out some some of the local innovation. The President took a few moments out of his busy schedule to play around with the smartphone-controlled Sphero RC ball, declaring "how cool is that," before demanding that the crowd, "give me some space to drive my ball." He also tossed out some superlatives like "terrific," after nearly driving it into a woman's flip-flop. Now that's a solid endorsement, if ever we've heard one. In all, it didn't last long -- the guy's got a country to run, after all.
